Shallowhalo is in the driver’s seat now, literally and figuratively. NYC-based artist and DJ Allyson Camitta has been steering her indie electronic project into bold new territory since taking it solo. Originally launched in 2021 as a duo with Ezra Tenenbaum, Shallowhalo quickly made waves with its glimmering, low-key synth-pop tracks. Following a standout debut and buzzy EP, Camitta has evolved from dancefloor muse to downtown scene-shaper, leading the We Take Manhattan party series and sharing stages with the likes of Alice Glass and Cherry Glazerr. Now, she’s opening a new chapter for Shallowhalo.

Her latest release, “Racecar,” is a dazzling new single and video featuring and co-produced by Blush (Alex Tepper), out now via Dinosaur City and House of Feelings Records. The track is pure high-octane pop: distorted, urgent, and irresistibly chaotic. It’s quite a U-turn from the retro, basement influences of the project’s early days. “‘Racecar’ is about being addicted to the chase — chasing glamour, chasing validation, chasing a person who will never love you back the way you want,” Camitta says. “The song moves like a panic attack you want to dance through.”
Directed by Persia Beheshti, the video pulses with neon heat and sweaty dancefloor energy, echoing the intensity and DIY flair that’s become Camitta’s signature. It’s fast. It’s loud. It’s impossible to look away: Shallowhalo is going full throttle.
