Abhi the Nomad – Piece of Cake

Abhi The Nomad Piece Of Cake

It’s mid-June and Summer is on the cusp of kicking in – Luckily, we’ve got the soulful indie-hip-hop tunes of Abhi The Nomad to guide us into a mellow, jazzy state-of-mind with his latest track, “Piece of Cake.” The track also features Harrison Sands and Shōta. It’s infectious, melodic and begs you to put your troubles aside and break out that two-step. It’s the first single off of his upcoming EP, “The Catharsis.”

Abhi The Nomad has been a bit mum about the tracks on “The Catharsis”, but if “Piece of Cake” is the taste he’s giving us, then we’re definitely in for a treat.

First, “Piece of Cake” starts with a few piano keys leading to a drum beat and Abhi reflecting on making it as a successful indie artist in the US. He kicks the song off with, “Look what we have here, now we done did it / murdered the contest, nobody listened / still got no hand outs, don’t need no plan / record that shit, mix it, then go fill my bank out,” a not-so-subtle ode to the grind he’s been on since he first blessed us with his first release, the “Beginning EP” way back in 2014.

Grinding usually connotes a gritty, tenacious feel, and though that may be true for his work ethic, the vibes he puts out on his tracks feels a bit, refreshingly, removed: Abhi the Nomad comes off as self-aware, but good-natured and light-hearted. “Piece of Cake” drives home these values and is definitely making his fans (myself included) salivate for the “The Catharsis EP.” The release date was not announced yet, but stay tuned on HighClouds for more info.
