Conner Youngblood announces debut LP with ethereal “The Birds Of Finland”

Conner Youngblood‘s debut album “Cheyenne” is due out August 17 on Counter Records.

American singer-songwriter Conner Youngblood is back with some great news as he has just announced the release of his debut album for this summer. On this guestless project, the polyinstrumentist whose sophisticated folk soundscapes are often reminescent of Bon Iver and Sufjan Stevens will play nothing less than 30 different instruments. Impressive.

Opening with ocean spray-like piano and harp chords, the first single “The Birds of Finland” unfolds a majestic contrast between his soulful and ethereal vocals and an intense song progression. This duality is perfectly encaptured by the Johannes Greve Muskat-directed video which was shot in Finland. It’s an intimate look at the inner peace and the force of wild nature.

About the video, Conner Youngblood stated:

I had always been in love with the idea of bird watching and had always wanted to go to Finland. It just took me writing the song first, to eventually do both of those things. Once we got the camera and a rental car, we basically made up a route across Lapland-from Finland to Norway-and tried to capture everything we encountered along the way. It was incredible and incredibly cold.
