Call her an elf or a sylvan angel! Brooklyn-based musician Julianna Barwick recently released a new track off her upcoming third LP “Will”, that will be out on May 6 via Dead Oceans. This new single, “Same”, which features the artist Mas Ysa, is a harmonious and delicate chord progression that, for sure, won’t let you unmoved.
“Same” is different than her previous single “Nebula” which was more synthetic and haunting. Here, the symbiosis that is reached by the two artists’ voices conveys some organic, peaceful and comforting feelings.[soundcloud url=”https://api.soundcloud.com/tracks/257279659″ params=”color=ff5500&auto_play=false&hide_related=false&show_comments=true&show_user=true&show_reposts=false” width=”100%” height=”166″ iframe=”true” /]
In a press release, Julianna Barwick talked about Mas Ysa and her reasons to collaborate with this artist, who was born in Montreal and whose real name is actually Thomas Arsenault:
Barwick will be part of Le Botanique‘s “Les Nuits 2016” (#Nuits2016), a series of concerts which opens the festivals season here in Belgium. We really hope that Mas Ysa will be on stage with her. What is sure so far is that she will share the night with the amazing Julia Holter in June, and you can still get your tickets for the event here.
“Will” is the follow-up to “Nepenthe” and, as a bonus here is her live session for KEXP that she gave to promote this 2013’s album:
