“Daddy” is taken from Lafawndah‘s upcoming debut album Ancestor Boy, due out March 22 on her own label CONCORDIA.
After a series of EPs and mixtapes, Paris-born multicultural singer-songwriter-producer Yasmin Dubois, better known as Lafawndah, is finally ready to release an official full-length project. This exciting announcement comes in the shape of “Daddy”, an ethereal and vibrant slice of R&B which sounds less challenging than some of her explorative and experimental tracks. “Daddy” is a bewitching pop song which graciously explores the roots and the filiation, two themes that also link with the title of her album.
About the track, she explained to High Snobiety:
[su_quote]Daddy’ is a song about legacy, family secrets, what you decide is yours and what you decide to let go, ’cause it belongs to the people who made you and to the people before them.[/su_quote]
