Mabel‘s debut track “Know Me Better” is out on Map Records.
Malaga-born, Stockholm-raised up and coming singer Mabel is none other than the daughter of Neneh Cherry and Massive Attack‘s producer Cameron McVey. Music? Talent? it obviously runs in the family! At age 19, the newcomer has already been writing songs for 14 years. And you can hear that in her infectious and soulful debut track, “Know Me Better”. Combining R&B, pop and hip-hop influences, the single holds the promise of a very bright future.
About the track, MABEL explained to The Fader:
When you first get to know someone you don’t want to let that person see your weaknesses, but in a way you’ve not really shown them your whole self until they’ve seen the rough edges. ‘Know Me Better’ is about losing layers of pretension and control, and letting your guard down. It felt like the right track to come with first for so many different reasons, but I think the title kind of says it all: I would like people to get to know me and I’m hoping that will happen through my music.
