Niki & The Dove – So Much It Hurts

It looks like Swedish indietronica act Niki & The Dove will explore some nostalgic places in their sophomore LP “Everybody’s Heart Is Broken Now”, that is due to be released on April 8 via Ten Music Group. Indeed, after the retro “Play It On My Radio“, here is the second single off the album: “So Much It Hurts”. It sounds like an old R&B/disco track and, by the way, the lyrics are directly mentioning Prince‘s 1990’s single “Thieves In The Temple”.

The delightful and subtle track talks about a painful love story where Malin Dahlström sings and asks her lover to come back. She thought their love story was safe from the thieves in the temple and that they would always be there one for each other. Sorry my dear, but as would sing your Swedish compatriot Robyn in “Love Kills”: “Don’t go messing with love, it’ll hurt you for real, don’t you know that love kills.”
