The Plastics hottest new track “In Threes” is a good addition to any summer mix. The eclectic combination of sounds they serve up gives a deeper look into what the group is all about. And if you need any more incentive, it’s a free download!
The group describes itself as “an indie retro rock band”. While self-proclaimed, it’s pretty spot on. They dropped their latest album, “In Threes”, a few months back, which was self-published and (mostly) self-produced. The South African band consistently has a couple tracks of note come out of each album, and this time around is no exception. However, if you’ve been a fan of The Plastics for a while, you might want to prepare yourself for this entry in their ledger: it’s heavy on the psychedelic factor.
The Plastics‘ “In Threes” is heavy on the psychedelic factor!
The track “In Threes” follows from the album title, and gives a strong overall feel for the tone of the entire album. The background vocals give an eighties vibe to the production, and the lightly distorted electric guitar reminds you that this group still has rock at its heart. The only really disappointing thing about the album is how hard it is to find.

This is most likely due to the fact that the album is actually available for free, and payment is purely optional (but I would urge you to support the band). Regardless, it is another compelling entry in the ever-growing genre of psych pop. Follow The Plastics on Facebook or stream the full LP on Soundcloud.
