Pure Moods are a Melbourne based band who are making waves with their laid-back, nostalgic tunes. The band consist of Adam Madric, Alex Lashlie and Wyatt Knowles and “Blurb” is their first release and it just oozes with relaxed indie lo-fi vibes and that golden-locked surfer feeling you associate with Australia. A kind of Mac DeMarco on a surfboard…
Pure Moods’ “Blurb” is an emotional story hidden behind a disguise of laid-backness
It is interesting to note that although the rhythm is finger clicking smooth and rich in easygoing melodies that make you want to sit with your feet in the ripples of the ocean and forget the world, the vocals hit on a different note. It is easy to be swept above the lyrics by the uplifting riff but when you hone in on the words you realize it is a strongly emotional story that is being told hidden behind this disguise of laid-backness. It is an unusual way to exhibit such personal lyrics and it’s a refreshing twist.
