EP ALERT: SIBA – Fruits

SIBA Fruits EP

Don’t trust the artwork of SIBA‘s debut EP “Fruits” which represents a monochrome still-life. His 5-track musical project is a delicious dessert: colorful, refreshing, sharp and sweet. The 24-year-old Danish artist proposes something consistent and rich with sounds that could be inspired by our 2015’s newcomer Demo Taped, SOPHIE high on testosterones, a PC Music collaboration with soca artist Kevyn Little or even from fresh pop bands such as Metronomy. Yes, SIBA‘s music is like fruits: it is full of vitamins and is good for you!

The artist wrote about of the full release:

The EP is mostly built on a lot of old ideas and stuff I did 2 or 3 years ago but I saw some potential in. That’s why they are all kinda raw sounding. I just thought it was funny to have something out that could display where I come from. Plus I think they’re a lot fun these tunes, which is what music is all about.

All of the tracks of the EP are single materials, with the exception of “Blackberry” which is obviously too short. “Mango” and “Kiwi”, as the fruits, are tropical uplifting pop/R&B tracks that are perfect to wake up and to embrace life to the fullest.

But my favorite track is probably the weird and wacky “Pomegrenate”, that reminds me a masculine version of Charli XCX‘s collaboration with SOPHIE on her “Vroom Vroom EP“.

If you want to download the EP, it’s out on HEET and it’s over there. You can also check his Soundcloud account where you can follow him and discover two older tracks: “UR MY <3" and "Promise".
