Now, Lindsey Elise French has shared the brand-new video for “Polly Pocket,” a dreamy highlight of the record that dives into themes of alienation and identity. In the video, she clones herself to play every instrument in her band, while also hanging out with friends like Adam Kane, Lou Rebecca, and her partner-in-crime (and 100% Electronica co-founder) George Clanton. Now, two years after CBD Reiki Moonbeam, Lindsey Elise French -her real name- is gearing up for her next era. Her upcoming album, She Comes From Nowhere, drops this June, and the hypnotic and otherworldly first taste, “Mysterious Girl,” is already here.

Lindsey French is starting a new chapter– She not only changed her moniker from Negative Gemini to Neggy Gemmy, but she’s also opted for a more luminous sound on recent releases “California”, “Beep Beep” and “Daydream.” While we loved her hazy and melancholy debut, we are also obsessed with her bubbly new offerings. And now, there’s a new song to add to this fun collection. At just under 1 minutes and 30 seconds, her bouncy new single “Gemmy Juice” is a must-listen. Oh, and it features Kero Kero Bonito‘s Sarah Bonito. What’s not to love? Watch the awesome accompanying animation (SFX by George Clanton and Neggy Gemmy herself) below.

Another lost album has been saved! Back in 2020, a few years after the release of his acclaimed debut album St. Francis, Satin Sheets started to work on a sophomore project but lost the final product because of a corrupted hard drive. Fortunately, 100% Electronica‘s George Clanton is a good computer technician. After he extracted the project from the hard drive, the groundbreaking album is now assured to have a sequel. This second part is set to adopt “a more seasoned perspective, conjuring nostalgia while also exploring wild new sounds.”

Alongside this exciting news, the New Zealand producer has already unveiled the balmy and lounge-y first single, “Air 98,” which gathers new-age, vaporwave and balearic chillout together. Just in time for the summer.

Vitesse X‘s debut album, Us Ephemeral, is one of our favourite records of early 2022. The 100% Electronica rave-pop signee shared a bunch of great tracks ahead of the release (“Us Ephemeral,” “Potential Energy,” “Therma Maxima,” and “Repress Reprise“) and now we can add yet another entry to the list – her newest single “Centrifuge Me”.

“I made this track in the dead of winter during the pandemic last year,” she explained. “I was super isolated, spending most of my time in my basement studio, feeling just incredibly stir crazy. I reached a point where I was basically craving chaos, just wanting to see the monotony shaken up. So this track is basically a snapshot of what was going through my body and mind at the time.”

A few weeks ago, Vitesse X released the hypnotic and mystifying title track from her upcoming debut album, Us Ephemeral, that we featured straight away in our Best Tracks of 2022. The 100% Electronica signee has now shared a blissful remix, courtesy of George Clanton. The hyper ethereal rendition channels his work with his vaporware alter ego Esprit. Single after single, Caroline Loveglow is readying what is set to be one of the best albums of early 2022. After “Zenosyne,” the 100% Electronica signee is back with another celestial single, “Blue Arcade”. “Blue Arcade is: dissociation, blaming impulsivity on instinct, and not wanting to become a nihilist- trapped in glitter and a major key,” she explains.

Throughout these past few years, I have often flirted with the idea that existence is futile. How could you not? However, it’s naive to assume that the fruits for cherishing life are not found ripe for the taking. It’s not that life is futile; it’s that, in our mortal misfortune, it is fleeting.

Vitesse X recognized this when writing “Us Ephemeral,” the title track from her upcoming debut LP, during the initial wave of the pandemic. With the track, she “wanted to express that in embracing our impermanence, we can truly savor the moments that make us whole.” Building a depth of flavor with its endless simmer and dashes of spice, it can only be said that she brings this vision to fruition with flying colors.

As hypnotic in groove as it is mystifying in atmosphere, “Us Ephemeral” fuses the textures of ambient and techno with the pulse of rave and ghostliness of coldwave. Vitesse X’s vocals, reminiscent of Suzanne Vega and Hope Sandoval of Mazzy Star, are interwoven effortlessly atop the water-level synths and bubbling bass of the beat. While its track would be fine in remaining in this dreamy landscape, it’s through adding the shouted samples that bring this track to the dance floor in a 90s club or factory.

The accompanying music video is the ideal aesthetic match for the song. Each frame is shot in a way to accentuate the dreamy, ethereal nature of the track, the fleeting feeling the artist expresses so well.
