The video also starts by a lonely girl who is just standing there all alone and we cannot stop feeling a lot of compassion for her as we are single too and we are are feeling you girl !

We still don’t know much about the release of the album but we will for sure keep you posted.

If you never heard of her before, Bonzai is a young artist that appeared on the internet 7 months ago via Mura Musa‘s label Anchor Point, releasing a strong debut single called “KBG“. After that she unleashed “Doses” on the internet, the first single taken from her debut EP. “Royah” was a memorable EP, in which Bonzai brought a lot of different influences. More recently, she was featured in Mura Masa‘s latest banger “What If I Go?“

“Sleepy Hungry” is a 9-tracks EP (YES 9) including noticable ones such as “Daniel Gets It Wrong”, “Lights On” and “Where Are U Now”. The whole EP is hysterical as we like it and it has big influences either in R&B, electronic genres such as acid and house.

You could even spot some similarities with The Chemical Brothers in “No Rest” where the climax hits and you are literally transported to the early 90’s when Belgian new beat, “Block Rockin’ Beats” by the English chemical duo and at some point even Prodigy with their hit “Smack My Bitch Up” were hitting hard in the clubs. It is incredible how Bonzai seems to have such a massive palette of different backgrounds creating an impressive melting-pot of sounds that somehow match together.

We are expecting from Bonzai to sing in a very sensual way because of her beautiful soulful voice but once again she kept her whole universe of 90’s electro and she probably even pushed it harder without losing her own spirit. There is no way that she is going to keep it in down-tempo because her tracks are made for dancing !

This EP is a mix between Rabit thanks to the production, Sophie thanks to way to give to electronic sounds a pop turn, Charli XCX thanks to its powerfulness and Arca for its weirdness and the way of pushing the boundaries farther … And as trash as we are, we obviously really really REALLY enjoy it but be prepared… don’t listen to it early in the morning… unless you are in an after party

[su_dropcap style=”simple”]T[/su_dropcap]wo weeks ago, the Dublin-based female artist Bonzai shared “Doses”, a great track taken from her upcoming debut EP “Royah”. The amazing EP is now available for streaming on her Soundcloud.

Was my reaction when I listened to the whole EP.

Actually, it’s still my reaction after my 5th listen.

As I told you when I first heard “Doses”, it is blatant that Bonzai is a diversified artist. She offers a different range of music while keeping the same RnB/Electro roots and universe. But it is rather clear that her real influence is Electroclash. Maybe for you, youngsters that doesn’t ring a bell since Electroclash is a genre that started at the end of 90s mixing electronic sounds of the 80s, techno and more pop sounds. Felix Da HouseCat, Ladytron, Fischespooner and Peaches are those who contributed the most to the rise of this genre. Bonzai is clearly the descendant of this special era.
But at the same time, she’s definitely one of the brilliant and fresh artists of 2016. For example, “Noise” or “Skhokho” are clearly songs inspired by today’s electro-pop with a small wink at the current R&B.
Or in the contrary, “Nikka” is completely influenced by R&B with an electronica background.

It may only be a 4-songs EP but Bonzai didn’t need more to prove that she draws her influence very far and deep in good music.

Mura Masa and Shura, both singers, songwriters, producers are two rising artists from the UK, it’s the first time they’re working together, and they just delivered us a fresh and amazing song!
The young artist is a multi-instrumentalist and proves it with this record , playing a multitude of instruments (especially the flute, THE FLUTE), showing how talented he is.
Along Shura’s warm mesmerizing voice. This is a real combo, we love it!

Shura is actually recording her debut album, probably out in the beginning of next year. During the way, watch her performance at the Vevo Bestival.
Mura Masa is also working on his LP, for the next summer. “Love for That” is the first single of that album.
