[su_dropcap style=”simple”]T[/su_dropcap]hree long months since the release of his last track and still no news from Mick Jenkins‘ album “[T]he [H]ealing [C]omponent”. Anyway, the -year-old Chicagoan poet just dropped a new track, with the assistance of another artist from Chicago: theMIND. The track, that is named “Sunkissed” and produced by Da-P, deals once again with black empowerment and police violence.

On “Sunkissed”, Mick Jenkins has the perfect social-political tone and flow and sings: “you love my style, you love my skin, that melanin, that melanin…”

The bubbling and smooth production of Da-P is contrasted by the lyrics, which by the way are often referencing the Biblical imagery. The track, like some of his previous ones, deals with police murders and black empowerment:

The song was shared in partnership with 1800 Tequila (cheers!) and we don’t know yet if it will be part of “[T]he [H]ealing [C]omponent,” his LP due for later this year. It is the follow-up to “The Artful Dodger” that was released back in March 2016. By the way, theMIND shared his “Summer Camp” mixtape yesterday via Soundcloud.
