Known for being a half of Montreal electronic duo Majical Cloudz, singer-songwriter Devon Welsh is going solo for some time now and after a series of singles, he has finally announced the release of his debut solo album. According to the press release, the ten tracks of “Dream Songs”, which are produced by Austin Tufts of Braids, are inspired by the passing of seasons and the intricacies of love.

Coming with this announcement, Devon Welsh has also shared the opening track “By The Daylight” and a Christopher Honeywell-directed video. There’s a feeling of fatality in this new song. “Life often seems like a catastrophe of one kind or another, events seem out of our control. Sometimes it feels like we’re just swept along in a tide we don’t really understand, and this song is about experiencing that feeling.” says the artist. Listen to the intense “By The Daylight” and its majestic string section below.

This album is the follow-up of “Darlet on the Brush” released in 2014. With 5 tracks, Devon Welsh is not wasting any time, closing the door of Majical Cloudz who played their last concert a week ago in Montreal. Matthew E. Duffy is credited for the vocals and words, and Devon Welsh for the music.

About this album, Devon Welsh wrote in a new website :

[su_quote] Me and Matthew E. Duffy are releasing another Belave album today (which is the music project we do together). The saxophone all over the album is by Austin Milne. It was written and recorded in chunks over the last year and a half, started in Detroit, continued in Montreal, and finished with remote contributions from Austin in London.
I think with this project we are always trying to create our own world and make something that we have never heard before. It’s definitely a science experiment, and I think we are hoping for new discoveries.[/su_quote]

We can’t wait to listen more music from Devon and we are relieved after this declarations over Twitter that you can see below. We’ll keep you for sure posted about this second album

The duo is formed by Audrey Ann and Kyle Jukka and both have the passion for vintage. As they say in their statement :

[su_quote]Visually Kyle really likes 90s TV and I’m more into 50s glamour, I’d say that’s what went into this video. We shot it in my bedroom with the help of a couple friends (Neil Corcoran, Devon Welsh.) It was simple and very fun and I think it shows. Both of us love cinema and are acutely affected by colours. It was our first time making a music video. It feels really good to make something visual that is in harmony with our music.[/su_quote]
