Following up to “Gospel For A New Century,” already featured in our favourite tracks of the year, Yves Tumor has just shared “Kerosene!,” another glimpse taken from his forthcoming album Heaven To A Tortured Mind. A burning ballad about a consuming passion, the track features vocals from Diana Gordon as well as an epic guitar solo which seems to come straight from the 80s. After writing for Beyoncé‘s “Lemonade” the famous “Becky with the good hair” phrase, she changed her stage name from Wynter Gordon to Diana Gordon. As a particular feminist anthem, the track follows the path of what it’s like to exist in the world as a woman. About the video, the artist said:

We shot this video on a cold day in November. 5 pregnant women on the cusp of giving birth and hungry, everyone having to pee at the same time. It was also one of the calmest days I’ve ever experienced. We all wanted to capture the incredible beauty of this ancient magic called ‘creation of life.’ I also wanted to give them classic beautiful images to show their children when they were older.

This song, that is rock & roll reincarnated, that celebrates your mother, my mother, your sister, and my sister is just my way to stand up for the woman next to me and all those unseen. We need each other and the world really needs us right now.”
