Following up on their 2018’s self-titled debut EP, Oslo’s indie pop quartet Das Body have just shared their first song of 2019. With their cheeky leader Ellie Linden in the role of a “lonesome bitch”, the uplifting yet sad “Taller Than The Average Man” evokes a fantasized relationship tinged with bittersweet feelings. Once again, Das Body‘s package also includes polished up Scandinavian pop hooks and astounding left-field arrangements. Listen and check their upcoming US gigs below.

Last month, Oslo pop band Das Body released their debut EP on Luminelle Recordings and they have finally shared the first video off of the 4-track project. And we’re so happy that they chose “Graceland” as it’s one of our favourite songs of the year. The dual video alternates between moves of lead singer Ellie Linden and images of a muscular apollo. About these visuals, Linden explained to The Fader:

Playing it live feels like starring in a neo-noir movie with Elvis. ‘Graceland’ is like a battle between the neverending drumbeat and the unsettling vocals, held together by some simple chords. You all know Swedish expertise for pop music but don’t forget that this mysterious talent is actually a Scandinavian case. With a boiling scene and edgy artists like Smerz, Sassy 009 or newcomer Otha more recently, Norway shouldn’t be slept on.

Hailing from East Oslo, the new Luminelle Recordings‘ signees of Das Body are going to confirm what we state here. With “Boys”, the first offering off of their upcoming debut EP, the band interweave colourful synth-pop and nostlagic 80s vibes in an uncanny and breezy way. If you like Reggie Lucas‘ productions on Madonna‘s first album, then you’re gonna dig this for sure. Fronted by vocalist Ellie Linden, the Norwegian quartet promise nothing else than some fun for the summer.
