New York City-based multitalented artist Alexandra Drewchin aka Eartheater has just shared the video for “Faith Consuming Hope,” the closing track of her amazing 2020 album Phoenix: Flames Are Dew Upon My Skin. Directed by Elliott Power and shot in Kiev, the incredible visuals meld together religious and BDSM imageries, purity and lust, two worlds that are theoretically in total opposition.

“I stayed with nuns a lot while growing up, and it was while asleep in the monastery that I had a lot of dreams,” she stated. “Some of which I remember being quite sexual and foreshadowing of a life and world I couldn’t even imagine — glimmers of a life very much like the one I inhabit now. I loved the nuns and the devotion and peace they showed me. I thought I might become a nun myself for a while. I helped take care of the goats and painted egg tempera icons. I remember, while working, I could feel a cheeky and powerful pull growing inside me. I followed that lust, without fear of failure or misunderstanding, towards my own divinity undefined by any dogma and I can only describe that feeling as having faith.”

Recently, Drewchin modeled for MUGLER’s recent runway show. Last February, she also released a drone version of Phoenix: Flames Are Dew Upon My Skin.
