It’s a bit the same with Azealia Banks‘ new album Fantasea II: The Second Wave which was supposed to be released this year and that was apparently postponed. Hopefully, we had the amazing singles “Treasure Island” and “Anna Wintour“, which is featured in our 100 Best Tracks of 2018. It was already the case with her debut album Broke With Expensive Taste but it was worth the wait in the end so let’s keep our fingers crossed. Meanwhile, the rapper-singer still wanted to spoil us for the holiday break by dropping a 3-track Christmas EP titled Icy Colors Change which features her versions of “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” and “What Are You Doing New Year’s Eve”. Following up on her great single “Anna Wintour“, New York City-based rapper and singer Azealia Banks has shared a brand new track. “Treasure Island”, which is not randomly named after a gay adult movie company, is a tropical, club-oriented single which should keep us excited until the release of her full length project even if we don’t have a proper release date yet. According to a tweet, this single, as well as the Kaytranada-produced “Along The Coast”, can be considered as Aaliyah‘s “Bock The Boat” tributes.

Besides this release, the artist started a beef with Nicki Minaj yesterday as the latter appeared as a mermaid in the footages of her video “Bed”. An aesthetics Banks already used on her debut mixtape “Fantasea” back in 2012.

Whether you like Azealia Banks or not, Azealia Banks she is undoubtedly talented. After having actively teased her new single “Anna Wintour” for some months now, she has finally unveiled the track which she described as “your gay wedding anthem of summer 2018”. It was quite ambitious but hopefully, promises are kept. “Anna Wintour” is obvioulsy a nod to the fashion magazine Vogue’s editor-in-chief but it’s also a club-ready and bass-driven banger. Azealia Banks celebrates love and diversity and she effortlessly showcases her versatility ona Junior Sanchez‘s house music-infused production: she sings, she raps, she throws some attitude but most of all, she slays. You just want to play it loud, spray, delay, and walk away.
