In case you live on another planet, Grimes has a new album on the way. She has already shared the singles “My Name Is Dark,” “So Heavy I Fell Through The Earth,” and “Violence,” a featuring with i_O. As promised a few days ago, she has finally unveiled the fourth track off the record, “4ÆM,” which seems to confirm that this concept project about climate change will be very ethereal and instrumental-centred.

Grimes was also present at the ceremony of the Game Awards yesterday, where she performed the track for the first time. She also announced that she will be part of the video game Cyberpunk 2077 alongside rappers A$AP Rocky and Run The Jewels. Listen to the track and watch the performance below.

It looks like Grimes likes to drive us totally crazy. In between two comments about her hi-tech eye surgery, the Canadian artist recently dissed her excellent album Art Angels and shared some fake news about new music. Indeed, she was supposed to drop a new track next week, but it’s actually already here. We won’t complain about that though. Officially, we still don’t know if “We Appreciate Power” and this brand new track, “Violence”, are part of her upcoming album Miss_Anthropocene (but we guess they are).

A collaboration with i_o, “Violence” surprisingly sounds like a mix between Art Angels and Visions. Nothing really new, but we actually like to hear her back to these elusive and sky-high vocals. “Violence” also comes with a self-directed, mythology-inspired video in which she notably reads Sun Tzu‘s famous book The Art Of War. A metaphor to describe a stormy and toxic relationship, the track can also refer to humanity’s environmental challenges (as it is supposed to be the main theme of her new album). Watch below.

In a recent interview with Beats 1, Claire Boucher also announced that she was already working on her new album, which will sound techno-pop, and that she started to write a track with Charli XCX as well.

Everybody is desperatly waiting for Grimes‘ fifth studio album since she teased it late 2018 with her HANA-assisted single “We Appreciate Power“. Today, Claire Boucher has shared a brand new video for a demo song titled “Pretty Dark” as well as some info about this yet untitled upcoming project. In her accompanying statement, we learn that the song and video were made yesterday in a couple of hours only and that they won’t be part of her new record. After some online teasing, Claire Boucher aka Grimes has finally unveiled a brand new song. Produced, performed and written by the artist herself, “We Appreciate Power” also features her friend and regular collaborator HANA. Some weeks ago, Grimes appeared on Poppy‘s track “Play Destroy” and it looks that the Montreal artist has decided to go further in that direction by pushing the boundaries of pop music with dark and heavy industrial sounds. The accompanying lyric video was directed by Grimes and her brother Mac Boucher.

Youtube sensation and pop artist Poppy drops today her sophomore album which features a song with Diplo and a disconcerting duet with Grimes. Veering between wild metal riffs and bubblegum pop hooks, the latter, “Play Destroy”, also stands out for its apocalyptic (anticapitalist? ecologist?) lyrics. Indeed, the two pop icons want to destroy everything, including Walmart and Monsanto, in the most candid way possible. It’s a savage and intriguing offering which kind of reminds us of Grimes‘ “Art Angels” single with Aristophanes, “Scream“. Listen below.

A. G. Cook was one of the guests of NTS Radio for their 12-hour long Liminal takeover. The producer, whose real name is Alexander Guy Cook, dropped his contribution online and it features a lot of remixes including his take on Katy Perry’s “Teenage Dream” (4:17) and Rihanna’s “We Found Love” (43:04) as well as two Sigur Rós tracks. Riding the online buzz of Grimes and Elon Musk union, he also transformed “Flesh Without Blood” and called it “Flesh Without Musk.” You can hear it around the 49 minute mark.

A lot has been said about the vagina pants of Janelle Monáe’s phenomenal video for her single “Pynk.” The overall aesthetics of the video clip is just outstanding. The two reunite prior to their collaboration on Grimes’ “Venus Fly” (please check out the amazing video). Happy they’re together again. Maybeeeee pink like the skin that’s under… Maybeeeeee a tour together in the autumn?

I actually wanted to include this one in my previous playlist, as it was released a day before it was published. But hey, better late then never. Since its marvelous 2016 EP ‘AS’, Berlin-based duo Amnesia Scanner is one of my favourites in the progressive electronic scene. Previously on Young Turks they’re collabing with new PAN labelmate Pan Daijing. Such a brutal, but strong and danceable song!

Brand new, fresh from the oven: Goro! He’s a Berlin-based producer from Bulgaria, making electronic music with dancehall, reggaeton & dub influences. In 2018, he’ll focus on a series of monthly singles, as well as a multimedia/performance project and pop production credits. Previous single was “Call/Answer.”

That’s why she decided to call her cover/remix the “dark” version of the perky single by Monáe. You can see below that she already validated the cover via a tweet.
