Halo Maud is undoubtedly one of the most exciting acts amidst this whole new wave of French indie and psyche-pop artists. Ahead of the release of her debut album “Je Suis Une Île” next month, she has just shared a new enchanting video and single. Carried away by her fairy-like vocals both in French and English, her song “Wherever” focuses on memory. The video is signed by Parisian filmmakers’ collective Dee Zoo it, who also produced her “Baptism” video.

About this new single, Halo Maud detailed:

[su_quote]It all started with this sentence “it made me want to be wherever you were”, that I received and took as a gift. The song talks about memories, in that case of a past love story, about the traces and even the physical sensations it leaves. I am quite fascinated by the effect of time generally, by how things are filtered by our memory, and I am wondering how much we decide to blur our vision.[/su_quote]

Hailing from French region of Auvergne, multi-instrumentalist dream-pop psyche artist Halo Maud has finally announced her debut LP which will feature her previously released singles “Du Povoir/Power” and “Baptism”. She also shared her sublime new single “Tu Sais Comme Je Suis” and a little statement about it.

[su_quote]This song is about the end of a love story, a kind of resigned assessment in slow motion of the state of the body and of a state of mind – “you know how I am” – there’s nothing we can do anymore, and your body begins to float, slowly escaping until disintegrating itself.[/su_quote]

French multi-instrumentalist Halo Maud will finally drop her 4-track debut EP on January 22 via Heavenly Recordings. It’s actually a re-release for UK and European market with an additional track as it was originally distributed on her Canadian label Michel Records in March 2017. She notably collaborated with Maxime Le Guil (Camille, Radiohead, Soko), and Robin Leduc.

About “Du Pouvoir EP”, Halo Maud detailed:

[su_quote]It is all about the beginning and the end: Baptism being the second birth (START), Du Pouvoir dealing with self-confidence and how to find your place in the world (CONSTRUCTION), and À La Fin (literally “At The END”), about what we keep and lose after love has gone. Dans La Nuit is actually the very first song I wrote in French, and has all been written during the night, and dans la nuit, we float, we escape until the next day is coming. The fact that I finally refused to choose between French and English ended up making sense when I signed to Heavenly Recordings, a double sign from heaven![/su_quote]
