Now, Bollinger is returning to EP mode with Shop Girl, a five track release arriving October 2 via Ghostly International. Produced by Jonathan Rado, with contributions from Sam France, Alex Heaney, and Tim Bernardes, the project was conceived as what Bollinger calls “songs from an imagined musical.” Its little universe revolves around a boutique, its owner and the three young women working there, with four of the songs co written alongside longtime collaborator Matthew E. White.

The title track, “Shop Girl”, gives us our first proper look inside that world. Kate Bollinger turns the everyday routine of working in a store into something much more playful and cinematic, wrapping it in warm 60s pop, soulful melodies and just enough disco shimmer to keep everything gently bouncing along. It is charming, slightly theatrical and ridiculously easy to get stuck in your head. “Shop Girl” also comes with a gorgeous Kate Bush-esque video directed by Jennifer Juniper Stratford.

Kate NV has just shared a “goofy and funny” video, in her own words, for the playful track “Ça Commence Par,” a highlight taken from her last album Room For The Moon. Directed by Jennifer Juniper Stratford, the visuals mark the end of the Room For The Moon era (which also features a collection of remixes and an instrumental album). A member of Brooklyn indie rock band Ava Luna till recently, Becca Kauffman recently left the group to focus on her own project Jennifer Vanilla. With this alter-ego, Kauffman delves into performance art through experimental music. In a few weeks, she will unveil a 3-track EP and the lead single, “Space Time Motion”, has just arrived. Less experimental and more dance-oriented than some of her previous releases, the nu-disco and deep house track mainly relies on a syllogism-like refrain, theatrically repeated over and over again.
