After “Sunday Morning,” Juno Francis and Alejandro Molinari link up once again for what they call an “Italo Disco inferno.” Featuring synths recorded in Breakbot‘s studio, their glittery, nocturnal new offering, “Symmetry,” is a perfect addition to the Johnny Jewel‘s label. The Marcus Spitta-directed visuals were shot in the lustful, kinky KitKat club in Berlin.

Based in Minsk, capital of Belarus, Dlina Volny have openly joined the fight for democracy in their country. As you may know it, the fraudulent re-election of Lukashenko, often described as Europe’s last dictator, provoked a huge wave of contestation and protest in this former Soviet state. In order to support the movement, the trio comprising Alex Shishlo on keyboards, Vad Mikutski on guitars and Masha Zinevitch on vocals have shared an urgent and uplifting anthem for people’s rights, freedom and truth: “Whatever Happens Next”. “It’s Your Time To Rule / Time To Stay Alive / Whatever Is Coming Our Way /We Can Fight It Back!”, she sings in this combative post-punk track which was produced by Johnny Jewel. When a nightclub was built on top of John Eatherly’s East Village studio, he knew it would be inevitable that the vibes would find their through the floorboards and into his own music. Alongside collaborator Maxwell Kamins, the two have channelled that energy into Club Intl, and their new Johnny Jewel produced track “Crush” is every bit as lush, synth-laden, and slyly nocturnal as you’d expect from a tune forged in a nightclub basement. “Crush” also features Cults‘ Madeline Follin on vocals.

Right from the jump, “Crush” sets out to make a sonic statement. The howling synths and steadily pulsing bass feel every bit as much like a force of nature as they do instruments, while still staying restrained enough to keep from being overwhelming. There’s space to breathe, with contrastingly subtle verses that leave John’s airy vocals to put listeners under a short-lived spell before hitting them with another mainlined shot of explosive sounds. By the time “Crush” is all said and done, you might find yourself ever so slightly out of breath – reeling in the best way from the speedy ups and psychedelic downs, just like the end of a night spent at the club upstairs.

A great track with a great origin story, “Crush” is the perfect night out captured conveniently in your speakers. Leave the club outfit in the closet and let the party come to you by hitting play.

After “Escape,” DESIRE continue to shape their dangerous, cinematic synth-pop with “BLACK LATEX,” a track where pain rhymes with pleasure. In this menacing yet sensual offering, Megan Louise acts like a dominatrix in an erotic thriller, giving instructions both in her native French and English. She plays the role of a black widow spinning her web, a praying mantis devourer of men.

The Johnny Jewel-produced track comes with a Warhol-inspired video, also directed by the Italians Do It Better leader. Run away while there is still time…

Montreal’s trio DESIRE follow up on their cover of New Order‘s “Bizarre Love Triangle” with another italo-inflected banger, “Escape”. “I can’t escape the maze in my head,” sings Megan Louise in this surprisingly cheerful song about suffocating love. The gleaming track is the latest release coming from the iconic Italians Do It Better studios. No need to mention that it is produced by the collective’s guru, Johnny Jewel, whose idiosyncratic arrangements work wonder once again. It looks like Chromatics are in a productive mode since they released their album Closer To Grey last year. Besides an extensive worldwide tour, they have already released a new song earlier this year, “Toy,” and they’re already back with another one, “Famous Monsters,” tailored for the dancefloor at dawn. The track is released via Italians Do It Better‘s freaky weekly instalment Fresh Blood and comes, of course, with a Johnny Jewel-directed video.

Last year, Parisian starlet Lou Rebecca released her debut album Restless on HOLODECK Records. The 10-track project caught our attention with the tracks “More,” “Desire,” and with the cheeky lolli-bop “Bonbon.” The latter just got a remix treatment by none other than Italians Do It Better‘s mastermind Johnny Jewel. Driven by a pounding beat and pulsating synths, the new version is assuredly dancefloor-friendly. The Parisian pop chanteuse also directed and choreographed the accompanying visuals which are somehow reminiscent of Mylène Farmer. Watch below.

After the hypnotic “Time For Crime”, Italians Do It Better‘s cybernetic noir act Orion drop their dreamy new single, “I Want You So Bad”, produced by label guru Johnny Jewel and recorded in a bedroom in Rhode Island. “It’s a song about knowing what you want & fighting through all time & space for it,” the duo explained in the press release.
