[su_dropcap style=”simple”]M[/su_dropcap]usic has never been just about music. Everything in art takes inspirations in other cultural fields and even just in music, old music inspires new generations as we commonly say by using a sample. London based artist Jorja Smith just shared the video for her new track “A Prince” where she collaborates with Maverick Sabre, sampling a Henry Purcell composition while putting images thanks to Yao Xiang drawings.

Even though Henry Purcell sounds still incredibly modern, Jorja Smith added her own modern R&B vibe and sweet voice. The verse of Maverick Sabre is straight forward and the drawings of Yao Xiang marry perfectly the sound of Jorja, giving a very magical visual to the track, taking to a fairy-tail level. We have no doubt that the universe of Jorja Smith will capture for sure a very large audience since her talent doesn’t need anymore proofs.

In this black & white video, you can see a man struggling with his choices in life : you can see him as a robber followed by the police and as the police following the robber. The whole idea is shown by third self as a bower showing the fight in every person’s life.

Directed by Drew Cox, the video captures the idea of the track making of the theme even more powerful.
