Earlier this year, singer-songwriter John Cudlip, better known as Launder, shared his Pink Cloud EP where he collaborated with the likes of Soko and Day Wave‘s Jackson Phillips. Once again, the Dana Point native has enrolled Phillips to produce his brand new song “Powder”. They’re joined here by DIIV’s Zachary Cole Smith on guitar and Lukas Frank on drums. As the title suggests it, “Powder” refers to drug abuse and to the social and physical erosion it provokes. About this melancholic and nostalgic new track, Launder stated:

[su_quote]I wrote this song about a group of friends I grew up who took the same path as me with a different outcome. It’s the first song I’ve used an acoustic guitar on, something I think really fell in line with the vulnerability that fueled me through the writing process. The song as a whole fell into place naturally… Most of the lyrics coming into being along the way in the studio.[/su_quote]

“Powder” is actually a double single release and you can already pre-order the 7″ vinyl via his Bandcamp page. Launder is also working on his full-length debut album.

Los Angeles-based artist John Cudlip also known as Launder follows up on “FADE” and “Annie Blue” with a Soko-assisted single. Like the two previous offerings, “Keep You Close” has a strong nostalgic and dreamy essence. A new wistful oniric shoegaze track to add in your music collection. Launder is the moniker of Californian artist John Cudlip. The artist moved from Dana Point, CA to Los Angeles last year before getting introduced to Day Wave‘s Jackson Phillips. Then, the two started to work on Launder’s debut “Pink Cloud EP” in Jackson‘s home studio in Echo Park. The two were helped by French singer-songwriter Soko, whose vocals are featured on several tracks of the EP, and by DIIV‘s Zachary Cole Smith on guitar as well.

Following up to previously shared single “Fade”, Launder has now unveiled the opening track of the EP. “Annie Blue” is a melancholic and infectious indie-pop anthem and we guess it’s a relevant tune to drive along the Californian coast anytime.

Launder‘s debut “Pink Cloud EP” was produced by Jackson Phillips and will be available on March 23.
