The release of their debut “Cruel Games” took the world by storm thanks to sleek synth-pop vibes and catchy lyrics. Their single “Lemonade” is taken from their much awaited debut EP “Electric Blue” that will be out at the end of the month. About the meaning behind the track, vverevvolf explained:

Writing the song, I was specifically inspired by the special type of anger that I always come back to as a queer person. I’ve found that a lot of people who have no insight into your lived experiences will often be the most vocal ones telling you how to act in response to injustices, so this is basically a response to them.[/su_quote]

After releasing “I’m Mad” and “I Like It What Is It” last year, she is ready to take it to the next level, around yellow synths and fruits. “Sorry” is a post break-up song where Beyoncé claims that she is not thinking of her ex anymore. It’s a fierce, confident, and middle-fingered feminist anthem!

As written on Genius, MeLo-X, one of the songwriters credited on the track, said that he wrote the lyrics way before Justin Bieber’s song of the same name was released:

[su_quote]It might have been last summer. It was way before that song came out. I mean, it’s funny… But yeah so, that track was kind of like creating a vibe in the studio. We were just working on a lot of stuff and the idea came up pretty simple. It was just some cool keys, drum patterns, and we started putting down vocal ideas and lyric ideas. And throughout the month, ​we added to it and Hit-Boy came in and sprinkled all these different sounds and layers to it and made it come together fully.[/su_quote]

The same night that she premiered her HBO special documentary “Lemonade”, Queen Bee decided to Beyoncé (a new verb meaning “dropping by surprise”) her new album. The LP, which is also named “Lemonade”, is now available via Columbia/Parkwood with a streaming exclusivity on Tidal. It features beautiful people such as Jack White (who is also a co-investor in TIDAL), James Blake, Kendrick Lamar, and The Weeknd.

“Lemonade” is described as a visual album. The hour-long televised docu-style that was aired during a HBO special show featured all the songs with accompanying videos for each of them.

Beyoncé said about the whole project:
[su_quote]It is a conceptual project based on every woman’s journey of self-knowledge and healing.[/su_quote]

The film features appearances from Amandla Stenberg, Quvenzhané Wallis, Zendaya, Trayvon Martin, Tamir Rice and Mike Brown‘s mothers and of course her husband Jay-Z. The tennis champion Serena Williams is also present as she mentioned it yesterday on Twitter.
