Empress of shares feminist anthem “Woman Is A Word”

Empress of‘s new track “Woman Is A Word” is out via Terrible Records.

Last year, Empress Of shared her incredible debut album Me, which features “How Do You Do It,” our favorite track of 2015. Keeping up the momentum, Lorely Rodriguez is now returning with another great offering, “Woman Is A Word.” This B-side, which surprisingly did not make the final cut, is the feminist anthem the world needs right now. “This song means so much to me,” she explained on Twitter. “I wrote it as a reaction to feeling like the word “woman” put me in a box of things I was capable to do.”

Sadly, sexism is still a big issue in the music industry and in our daily lives. Nevertheless, more and more female artists are raising their voice to address the problem and protest against it, from Grimes, to Björk, or Lauren Mayberry of CHVRCHES. And we are living for it.

“Woman Is A Word” is released just after Darkstar unveiled their collaboration with Empress Of for their track “Reformer.”

[su_dropcap style=”simple”]H[/su_dropcap]ey folks, did you see that our beloved Empress Of remixed “Romeo” by Chairlift? “Romeo” is the second single taken from the band’s second album “Moth”.

The remix stays quite close from the original but Empress Of added her own smooth electro-oceanian beats and identity to the song. It could even give us some vibes from Björk‘s album “Medula” in term of this whole aquatic atmosphere.

Empress Of is one of HighClouds beloved and favorite artists of 2015. The singer, songwriter and producer recently released her debut album “Me” entirely created by Empress Of herself via Terrible Records.

Following the amazing “How Do You Do It“, here is now the video for “Icon”.

The video is in collaboration with Urban Outfitters and it’s directed by Eli Born. It shows Lorely in her element, either alone in the forest, in her own cozy cabin. Or on her own in the streets of NYC.
