[su_dropcap style=”simple”]T[/su_dropcap]eddy Sinclair (known in the past as Natalia Kills before her X Factor scandal) recently started a new musical project under the name of Cruel Youth, with the collaboration of Willy Moon who is, by the way, her husband. After an interesting first single “Mr. Watson“, the duo is back with another track that follows the same recipe: a heavy dose of retro atmosphere with a pinch of modern soul à la Amy Winehouse. The rendition can only sound timeless, like the diamonds. It is therefore not by chance that this new single is named “Diamond Days”.

The artist, who is also a famous songwriter and who notably worked work work work on the lyrics of Rihanna’s new single “Kiss It Better”, seems to be riding the gravy train with this new project by rebuilding her image and proposing something that can musically talk to everybody. As we told you before, the artist stayed locked with Willy Moon for 3 months in the studio so we can easily say that more tracks (EP?) are coming soon!

Do you remember English singer, songwriter and actress Teddy Sinclair, formerly known as Natalia Kills before the scandal that happened while she was a judge on X-Factor New Zealand? She’s back with a band, that is actually a duo with her husband Willy Moon. Cruel Youth’s “Mr. Watson” is a good and soulful song that should put them back on track quicker than expected!

“Mr. Watson” reminds us some Kanye West or Amy Winehouse‘s tracks and we have to say, this new musical direction is convincing. The sound is retro and immerses us in the universe of bands such as The Ronettes or The Supremes back in the days. The lyrics are obviously less syrupy but this cruel youth is rawer after all, isn’t it?

As Teddy Sinclair explains it on their Facebook page: “Willy and I spent almost 3 months locked in our studio, just the two of us. It was so pure…making sounds and words we loved, getting wrecked, and writing anything that came to mind any time of day or night, with the occasional drop in from friends, writers and producers who added their own take to our world. It’s all just euphoric highs, pretty sounds, and a microphone really. Cruel Youth is an intravenous hit of our love and everything I find beautiful.”
