Four years ago today, a four-hour album appeared o $Four years ago today, a four-hour album appeared online with almost no explanation. Sent From My Telephone by Voice Actor (Noa Kurzweil and Levi Lanser) landed on STROOM, and nobody quite knew what to do with it: more than 100 tracks, sequenced alphabetically. We always like to highlight oddities, and this one became one of the most interesting releases of 2022. It was reportedly conceived as a radio show, something you’d tune into in installments. Noa and Levi spent roughly three years sending tracks to the label (via their phone, we guess) as they finished them, and the pile kept growing until it became something else entirely: Noa’s hushed, diary-like voice drifting over crackly loops, fractured beats and hazy soundscapes. For a long time, almost nothing was known about who was behind it, which only fed the mystery. Fans pieced together clues from credits and record store blurbs. Noa didn’t give her first press interview until January 2025. How to digest it? Shuffle it, play it in full, or take it in thirty minutes at a time over a few evenings. We won’t pick highlights, because there are too many to choose from. Also, it works less like a tracklist and more like a mood. But if you really want just one track to start somewhere, ”Badman” became the ”hit” of the album.$
