Having tattooed across her knuckles “Elegance” is barely a coincidence as her music exudes sophistication and style. In charge of every single part of her sound and vision, it is impressive how it all seems clear in her head; not only the way she presents herself for the first time to the world but also how she puts her desires into execution. “Ordinary” deals with love, and how at some point even when you hate the most important person of your life, you still get to see them as flawless. She took some time to answer our question about her song, career and aspirations for the future.

Highclouds: Can you introduce yourself to our readers who don’t know you yet?

Hello, my name is Betti. I am a 22 year old pop-jazz singer from Atlanta, Ga. I love pushing boundaries and creating juxtapositions both in my music and in my real life.

It all started with my love of the stage. One summer when I was about 8
years old my mom enrolled me in a local theatre camp. At the time I was very awkward, but the stage taught me how to embrace myself.

What can you tell us about your debut track “Ordinary”?

“Ordinary” is a love song for real couples. It’s my take on a more honest story of love vs the one typically thrown in our faces by Hollywood where everything is always peachy and perfect. Real relationships have their ups and downs, and I think it’s important for people to know that it’s normal.

Where do you find your inspirations?

I find inspiration in so many outlets and I certainly go through phases. Right now, I’m really interested in Studio 54 archives. I’ve spend countless hours on the internet at night just going through photos.

You are in charge of every creative process of your music. How does this process work for you?

Well, there are definitely two sides to a finished project. There’s creating the music, and creating what I call “the experience.” I’m extremely hands-on in both areas. For creating the music, I’m so lucky to have two guys who completely get me. One is my producer, Jamie Kenney, and the other is actually my husband, Niko Moon. Together we wrote my entire album. For the “experience” I guess I would have to first thank the internet and Pinterest! I spent countless hours online curating mood boards and gathering ideas for upcoming projects. I’m also blessed to have a management team who helps me turn my ideas into reality.

What can we expect from you in the future?

The unexpected.
