Otha‘s new track, “Tired and Sick”, is out now.

Following up on her dreamy and hazy dance tracks “I’m on Top” and “One of the Girls” (which ended up in the top 10 of our favourite tracks of 2018), up and coming producer Othalie Husøy, aka Otha, returns today with a hell of a banger titled “Tired and Sick”. Turning her social annoyance and frustrations into a dancefloor filler, the track sounds more hyperactive and muscular than her first offerings. Basically, this is the sound of nervous breakdown, the very moment when the straw breaks the camel’s back. “It’s an outburst song,” she explains. “And I hope that one day we can all be a little nicer to each other.” Listen below.

Otha‘s self-released new song “I’m On Top” is out now.

Oslo’s up and coming producer Othalie Husøy, aka Otha, has just shared the follow up to her excellent single “One of the Girls“. On “I’m On Top,” she organizes once again the union between ambient soundscapes and club culture, laying the foundations for an ethereal disco pop banger for introverts. After the gimmick “move your feet out to the open space”, Otha is now “dancing like a queen”, in the club or maybe in the intimacy of her bedroom, guided by a pulsating bassline. Unreal, oddly melancholic and empowering, her new anthem “I’m On Top” brackets your inner shyness and gives you the power to become unstoppable.

There is seemingly no end to the talented musicians coming out of Scandinavia, Oslo based duo Otha may not inhabit

There is seemingly no end to the talented musicians coming out of Scandinavia, Oslo based duo Otha may not inhabit the out and out pop landscape we’ve come to expect from such a place – but on “One Of The Girls”, they have really found their niche.

Comprising of Othalie Husøy, Otha provide the answer to the eternal question of what Robyn would sound like on downers. A pulsating piece of escapism that flips the tried and tested Scandic-Banger formula completely on its head.

Once the percussion kicks in and begins to build, Otha is able to take you straight to the underground clubs of Berlin – dark and mysterious with a pinch of belonging. The eventual crescendo would fit in just as well in a dark club as it would a box room on headphones, linking the two contrasting worlds together by some unknown quality.

Husøy‘s music seems to be an extension of her inner conscience, with lyrics that are not afraid to call out time wasting men. The slightly hypnotic repetition evokes a trance like state that makes the repeat button an even more attractive prospect.

For a first and only track available online, Otha are an intriguing prospect. The less obvious sound makes for a refreshing plunge into a seemingly darker club underbelly that places Otha in a different pack entirely to their Scandinavian counterparts.
