Ambient R&B artist Oyinda finally unveiled a Pussykrew-directed video for “Serpentine”, one of the highlight tracks of her 2016’s EP “Restless Minds”. A way to prepare the field before releasing the last EP of her trilogy.

The video of “Serpentine”, which was directed by the team Pussykrew, perfectly fits Oyinda‘s futuristic R&B. The black and white images are classy, the tension is palpable and the digital effects appear very graphic and modern. The beautiful work on the contrasts and the curves totally emphasizes the polished and sensual production of her track.

Oyinda‘s “Serpentine” is taken from her 2016’s “Restless Minds EP”, which is the second opus from a trilogy which is released via her own label Blood & Honey (the first EP was “Before The Fall”). We can expect more music from the British-Nigerian singer-songwriter and producer very soon.

Mysterious Nigerian singer-songwriter and producer Oyinda, that we follow since her amazing track “The Devil’s Gonna Keep Me”, just released

Mysterious Nigerian singer-songwriter and producer Oyinda, that we follow since her amazing track “The Devil’s Gonna Keep Me”, just released her second EP “Restless Minds”, via her own label Blood & Honey. The 5-track project demonstrates that the young artist is a must-watch act this year. Indeed, 2016 will be an important year for her and her EP “Restless Minds” is a solid project that should give her the best possible odds!

Oyinda was born in Nigeria but she moved to London with her family when she was young in order to escape the political instability. She finally chose the Big Apple to start to develop her skills across songwriting, vocals, production, and music video direction. She is still based in New York now, where she lives with her two cats. I don’t know why but I could have guessed Oyinda has cats. Maybe I base my premonition on this dark and bassy side that you can find in her music, and probably even more on “Restless Minds” than on her 2014’s debut “Before The Fall EP.”

The opening track, “Serpentine” was self-produced and mixed by American electronic musician Henry Laufer aka Shlohmo. It is an irresistible and sensual avant-garde R&B song where the rhythm suddenly breaks to give life to something that almost sounds like another track. It’s like if you were observing a flower which was blossoming in front of you.

Oyinda’s “Restless Minds EP” owns a visual atmosphere but you don’t even need a video to see the pictures appearing. Her voice and her productions are better than any screens.

Like FKA Twigs, she offers smart and original creations and her voice is convincingly bringing them to your ears.

Of course, the EP features the infectious “Never Enough” and the hypnotic “Flatline“, that were previously released. “Days Fast Forward” is a misty dark piece of R&B that features a mystical sound of flutes. “Out Of Touch” is a mix of 90s R&B influences and modern low-key vocals.

What is really appreciable about the EP is that there is a sonic continuity: the end of “Days Fast Forward” is perfectly introducing “Never Enough”, like “Out Of Touch” and “Flatline.”

You can follow Oyinda on Facebook, Soundcloud and Twitter.

London-based singer-songwriter and producer Oyinda is about to shine with her debut EP “Restless Minds” coming out this summer. “Flatline”,

London-based singer-songwriter and producer Oyinda is about to shine with her debut EP “Restless Minds” coming out this summer. “Flatline”, which was self-produced and mixed by Shlohmo, is her newest release and we definitely won’t be flatlining to this. Oyinda has a mysterious and sensual voice which she layers on top of a somewhat brooding background. The song ebbs and flows effortlessly and takes you on a soothing journey which is punctured occasionally by explosions of instruments and sounds.
[soundcloud url=”https://api.soundcloud.com/tracks/262542709″ params=”color=ff5500&auto_play=false&hide_related=false&show_comments=true&show_user=true&show_reposts=false” width=”100%” height=”166″ iframe=”true” /]
[su_spacer]

We love how she comes in and out of her passionate chorus. She lures us into a relaxed state before distorting her vocals upon entry into the dynamic refrain. It is full of effects and shifts in speed and tone. Oyinda then brings the speed and pitch immensely high before shutting down back into her smooth R&B style.

Oyinda’s “Flatline” will be feature on her EP “Restless Minds”, which is set to be released independently on June 10 and we are obviously looking forward to its release!

The artist has this beautiful calming voice but it is her talent in production that makes her tracks different to others. She dabbles in many genres in her work and although R&B based she injects this dark and slightly unsettling groove to many of her tracks and it adds a new dimension that we love.

“Flatline” is the follow-up to the amazing “Never Enough“.

Oyinda already had us under her spell because of her incredibly mesmerizing new song “Never Enough” but wait until you watch the video… She’ll now haunt every single of your next dreams.

Exploring different personalities is a recurrent theme for the New-York-based artist Oyinda. She expresses it perfectly in “Never Enough” video, in which she starts from a harmless lady to an empowered and confident woman that will evolve into a gorgeous and fierce goddess, Oyinda completely knows how to work a character. She’s definitely a creative and talented artist, especially knowing that she self-directed the video.

[su_youtube url=”https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xTufgpUUJMk” width=”640″ height=”360″]

Oyinda will release a new project in May, titled “Restless Minds”, that will probably include this great track.

“Never Enough” is currently at the 10th position of our HighClouds30. If you’re curious about the rest of our TOP30, it’s right here.
