“Fibromyalgia” is taken from ViVii‘s self-titled debut album, out on Dumont Dumont.

In one year, ViVii have managed to become an essential act of the Swedish pop scene. Blending indie pop melodies with dream pop arrangements, the duo caught all our attention with their unbelievably pretty singles “Savant” and “And Tragic“. Taken from their freshly released debut album, their gorgeous and uplifting new single “Fibromyalgia” is no exception to the rule. Inspired by the soft rock groove of Fleetwood Mac, the song is more luminous than its title can suggest and arrives just on time for Spring. In their own words:

[su_quote]Fibromyalgia has nothing really to do with the lyrics in the song. The day this song was written, Emil was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia and it was both sad gave some relief. With that diagnose in mind, this Fleetwood Mac inspired song was born[/su_quote]

ViVii’s still untitled debut album will be released on March 15 via Dumont Dumont. Swedish dream-pop trio ViVii came under

ViVii’s still untitled debut album will be released on March 15 via Dumont Dumont.

Swedish dream-pop trio ViVii came under the spotlight last year with their EP “Savant”, which made the rounds in quite a few music publications. Their career story has been an odd one: the band is comprised of a married couple – Caroline and Emil Jonsson – who decided to take music seriously when they started having kids. But the piece missing from the engine was their third member, collaborator, and producer Anders Eckeborn, who acts as a catalyst for the Jonsson’s music. ViVii are a dream pop act who is not afraid of being straightforward. Though their material ticks all the boxes that you’d expect from the genre (soft and almost hidden vocals, reverberated guitars, minimal percussion), they are something of a rara avis in that they value melody way over mood.

Now, they are setting up to release their debut album, and they have released a new single to promote it. Starting off with a delicate guitar arpeggio that brings back to mind Sufjan Steven’s most intimate material, “And Tragic” is arguably one of the best offerings from ViVii to date. It’s an unbelievably pretty song, its key component being the noticeable chemistry between Caroline’s and Emil’s vocals. The both of them trade off lead duties almost seamlessly, as if they were part of the same entity. Adorned by simple yet effective keyboards, the chorus in “And Tragic” is reminiscent of early Beach House but it includes its own poppier touch. Tune in below.

“Savant” is the title track from Vivii‘s debut EP out today on Dumont Dumont. Swedish dream-pop trio ViVii unveil today

“Savant” is the title track from Vivii‘s debut EP out today on Dumont Dumont.

Swedish dream-pop trio ViVii unveil today their debut EP and its title track as new single. There is undeniably something very special and cinematic about “Savant,” both delicate and powerful. It’s the magical reunion of dreamy vocals, wistful guitars and whispered souvenirs. About the track, the trio stated:

[su_quote]It is all about fiction and non fiction at the same time. It’s about the parallel universe that we created for ourselves as kids growing up. But at the same time it’s as real as it gets, we wanna be untouchable with super powers, so that we can soar over any kind of problem or anxiety.[/su_quote]

Long Beach newcomer ROET, serves his soulful sound on a moon-lit silver plate with his debut song “Points”. Swedish singer Ingrid Witt comes with the right attitude and proves her self-confidence with her bubbling “Fuck Your Ego”.
