London-based singer-songwriter Westerman will finally unveil his debut album in June. Titled Your Hero Is Not Dead, the project was crafted with regular collaborator Bullion. After “Waiting On Design,” he has now unveiled the title track of the record, which closes the project on a hopeful tone as he sings “From dark into bliss / Your hero is not dead.”

“This was the last song I wrote for the whole record, but I had the title for the album before any of the music was formed,” he stated. “I remember I wrote it on the day that Mark Hollis died. He’s probably as close to a musical hero as I have. The song isn’t about him or Talk Talk necessarily, but when he died I wanted to put myself to task and respond to the sadness I was feeling at that moment.”

The track is also featured in a mix of “freeform communal music” titled Huxley, that you can also stream below as well.

West London songwriter Will Westerman is readying the release of his debut album Your Hero Is Not Dead with a graceful new single, “Waiting On Design”. Like the rest of the 12-track project, the luminous track was recorded alongside his close friend and producer Nathan Jenkins, aka Bullion, in Portugal. Speaking on the inspiration behind “Waiting on Design”, he stated:

[su_quote]I was thinking about the absurdity of the self, and how nobody wants to look at themselves from the perspective of the people they hurt. What’s interesting to me about storytelling isn’t necessarily the stories themselves, but the mutual connection that comes from people’s understanding of what’s being conjured by that story.[/su_quote]

After a long series of captivating singles (“Confirmation” to the forefront), British singer-songwriter Westerman has finally announced the release of his debut album. The 12-track project will notably feature the previously released track “Blue Comanche.” Coming with this good news, he has also shared a new single, “Think I’ll Stay,” of which he said:

[su_quote]I wrote this while I was moving a lot. I was thinking about a chronic pain condition when it started. That pain is a very specific type, but I think there’s an inevitable amount of pain that everyone goes through just being alive. A friend was talking to me about how they’re going to be working until they’re 80 years old, so what’s the difference. In the song, I’m trying to say that it’s worth sticking around. It’s a sort of giddy affirmation of being.[/su_quote]

Following up on “Albatross“, London singer-songwriter Westerman has unveiled a new song from his upcoming EP where he explores human vulnerability in the modern era. On the encouraging second single, the retro-mellow “Oustide Sublime”, he cheers up a friend by telling him “Be what you want/I’ll always be your champion”. About the inspiration of the track, Westerman detailed:

[su_quote]I wanted to write a note to a struggling friend. I hoped it would be an arm on the shoulder for anyone finding things difficult. I wanted to be really direct with this, and for it to feel joyful and powerful in an unobtrusive sort of way.[/su_quote]

British singer-songwriter Westerman has recently announced the release of his new “Ark” EP by unveiling the track “Albatross”. There’s now an Emilie Norenberg-directed video to go with it. In the visuals, the artist in his pair of pajamas is having some fun in Margates Powell Cotton Museum, executing some moves surrounded by stuffed animals. Vegans, be reassured: one of them eventually gets back to life. Just like the track, the final rendition is uncanny, graceful and light-hearted. London-based singer-songwriter Westerman is back with a new song, “Ark”, where he keeps on intermingling folk soundscapes with subtle electronic elements, courtesy of his recent collaborator and producer Bullion. While his previous single “Edison” was more earthy and electronic-oriented, this one depicts some dreamy and aerial volutes. About the opening track of his upcoming EP, he stated:

[su_quote]’Albatross’ is set on a lake in my mind where I go to escape the worries of day to day existence. It’s a more innocent and natural place. There is a growing impingement on that place as time starts to feel like it moves faster, and more demands emerge. The song looks at that threat both to the physical environment and our own psychology through the inevitability of an ever changing landscape.[/su_quote]

London’s singer-songwriter Westerman – real name Will Westerman – is back with another Bullion-produced track which interweaves once again his simple, minimalist folk approach with subtle electronic arrangements. On “Easy Money”, the flip side to previously shared “Edison“, these electronic touches are probably less discreet than on his recent singles but they don’t denature his idiosyncratic work. The mystery is still here. “Easy Money” was first written as a love song but quickly turned into a sort of conversation, as the artist detailed. About the track, he also added:

[su_quote]It’s a conversation I had many times over with someone I care about a lot. The subject matter is something I was thinking about too often. I wanted to retain a sense of romance in the music as counterpoint to where lyrics ended up, and I tried to make it so the voice seems float within the music. The characters existing in a state of transience.[/su_quote]
