Wet shares new single “Close Range” from upcoming album

Wet has released another new single, “Close Range,” from their upcoming album Two Lives, that’s due out on April 4.

The beautiful track features Kelly Zutrau’s pensive lyrics along with a melancholic piano. It seems to highlight some of what the New York group’s upcoming album is about, the uncertainty that surrounds life’s major transitions.

Zutrau’s inspiration for Two Lives came from a moment of major change in her life, when she learned that she was pregnant in 2022. In the days after her positive pregnancy test, she wrote the album with producer Buddy Ross. Zutrau said that she felt overwhelmed by grief then, when her future suddenly felt constricted with the limitless potential of youth being yanked from her in a single moment. She then wrote the lyric, “I wish I could live two lives,” which set the mood for the record.

Brooklyn trio Wet rose to fame with their ethereal blend of R&B-infused indie pop and emotive lyrics. Two years after their stripped-down Pink Room EP, the band, led by singer Kelly Zutrau, has announced a new album, Two Lives. Set for release in Spring 2025, the yet-to-be-detailed record was introduced by the singles “Double” and “Rosy.”

Alongside the album announcement, the band have unveiled a music video for their new single, “Signs,” directed by Andrew Theodore Balasia. Watch the visuals below.

The blizzard that hit the East coast of the US has maybe inspired the Massachusetts trio Wet since their track is focusing in the dark side of Jones‘ track enlightening the whole melancholic vibe. By the listen of Wet‘s tracks, we are not that surprised that they decided to bring that side up. The forthcoming album of Jones should be out this year and it will be called “New Skin” while Wet‘s debut album is out this Friday via Columbia Records

Bonus : A few days ago, Wet made their first TV appearance in The Tonight Show where they sang “Weak”

They have shared on Zane Lowe live on Apple Music another amazing dreamy pop track “All The Ways” to keep us waiting even more… like that is even possible

Following the long line of amazing tracks, we are practically sure that this album is going to be one of the best albums of 2016 (and the year is just starting). Dealing with the fear of a new relationship, and picturing how this new relationship could end, the trio have always manage to show this kind of topic with a certain detachment and happiness, even if the theme seems sad and heartbroken. We are waiting a lot of this album and the level of excitement is TOO DAMN HIGH

“It’s All In Vain” is a slow sweet pop ballad, joining the same type as “You’re The Best”. We couldn’t be any more in love with them. UNTIL… Wet just announced their UK/EU tour and they are not coming to Brussels 🙁
