Brooklyn-based musician Julianna Barwick recently released a new track off her upcoming third LP “Will”, that will be out on May 6 via Dead Oceans. This new single, “Same”, which features the artist Mas Ysa, is a harmonious and delicate chord progression that, for sure, won’t let you unmoved.

“Same” is different than her previous single “Nebula” which was more synthetic and haunting. Here, the symbiosis that is reached by the two artists’ voices conveys some organic, peaceful and comforting feelings.

In a press release, Julianna Barwick talked about Mas Ysa and her reasons to collaborate with this artist, who was born in Montreal and whose real name is actually Thomas Arsenault:

Barwick will be part of Le Botanique‘s “Les Nuits 2016” (#Nuits2016), a series of concerts which opens the festivals season here in Belgium. We really hope that Mas Ysa will be on stage with her. Experimental and ambient artist Julianna Barwick has just announced the follow-up to her 2013 LP Nepenthe. Her third solo album, Will, is due to be released on May 6 via Dead Oceans. The first single is called “Nebula” and you can already watch the accompanying video.

The haunting video was filmed in Connecticut’s landmark Glass House, which was designed by the architect Philip Johnson, and directed by Derrick Belcham, who already worked for almost 2 years on videos about this place.

According to the press release, “Will” is an international project as it was recorded in “a variety of locales, from a desolate house in upstate New York to the Moog Factory in Asheville, North Carolina to Lisbon, Portugal.” It will also feature contributions from Chairlift drummer Jamie Ingalls, cellist Maarten Vos, and Thomas Arsenault, who is better known as Mas Ysa.
