Following up on their video for “Toy” where kids were imitating some dictators, Scottish trio Young Fathers have just shared a new video and single from their third album “Cocoa Sugar”. Directed by Oscar Hudson, the visuals of “Holy Ghost” were made with a long range thermal surveillance camera. These tools are generally used by the military for border security; hence, they can be linked to woeful events our world is going through at the moment. Besides this release, the band recently appeared in the media after having been disinvited and then reinvited by a German festival over their support for the pro-Palestine BDS movement.

Back in March, Scottish trio Young Fathers shared their third album “Cocoa Sugar,” featuring the singles “Lord” and “In My View“. Today, they offer the video treatment to one of the other highlights from the LP: “Toy.” The video was directed by Stink Films director Salomon Ligthelm, who already signed the visuals of their single “Mr Martyr” back in 2014. In this new video, kids take power in a dictatorial way.

About the video, director Salomon Ligthelm detailed:

I honestly just really like the idea of seeing dictators behaving like spoilt little children – pissed with the world, because things aren’t going their way. Looking at the political climate of our time, I’d say truth is certainly stranger than fiction.[/su_quote]

Young Fathers, the Edinburgh’s alternative trio comprised of Alloysious Massaquoi, Kayus Bankole and Graham ‘G’ Hastings finally announced the release of their third album. “Cocoa Sugar” will be available on March 9 and will feature the previously released singles “Lord” (The 2017’s track “Only God Knows” was a standalone written for “Trainspotting T2”). It was written and recorded last year in Young Fathers‘ basement studio.

The new single “In My View” is another hybrid track for the band. From hip-hop to electronic and gospel, this new single is flamboyant and comes with a thought-provoking video which was directed by Jack Whiteley.
