As the SXSW musical fest continues down in Austin, I find myself happily stranded in Vancouver for a few days—bingeing on the wealth of crisp air and plentiful BC Bud™. Lucky for me, my libations have driven me towards finding 20 dope new tracks to share with your eardrums.
JINCE scours through hundreds of SoundCloud tracks every week to find the best new gems by artists that are flying under the radar.
You can find the full playlist at the bottom of the post. Now, without further ado, let’s get into the featured tracks:
PALASTIC – Lying in the Sun ft. Bright Sparks
[soundcloud url=”https://api.soundcloud.com/tracks/312296178″ params=”color=ff5500&auto_play=false&hide_related=false&show_comments=true&show_user=true&show_reposts=false” width=”100%” height=”166″ iframe=”true” /]Winter hasn’t yet loosened its grip, but that doesn’t stop PALASTIC from getting us warmed up with “Lying in the Sun.”With a Bright Sparks-assisted production, the track’s synth kicks blast through your eardrums and the textured vocals inject you with adrenaline for all those dance moves you’re gonna bust.
Arlie – Big Fat Mouth
[soundcloud url=”https://api.soundcloud.com/tracks/309014351″ params=”color=ff5500&auto_play=false&hide_related=false&show_comments=true&show_user=true&show_reposts=false” width=”100%” height=”166″ iframe=”true” /]Continuing the “Fuck-Winter” vibe is this perky little number by Nashville-based indie-pop newcomers Arlie. Arlie‘s nostalgic sound comes in a beautiful sun-drenched, distorted-vocal package. Close your eyes and imagine a 90’s-style VHS playing a sunset beach-montage – yup, that’s the vibe.
Holybrune – Aucun Regret
[soundcloud url=”https://api.soundcloud.com/tracks/313400004″ params=”color=ff5500&auto_play=false&hide_related=false&show_comments=true&show_user=true&show_reposts=false” width=”100%” height=”166″ iframe=”true” /]Holybrune wins the award for making trap sexy again. Her staccato’ed flow slithers through an autotuned web and leaves you in a daze. The song is entirely in French, and though I don’t understand it all, the one thing I DO understand is Holybrune‘s incredible ability to take bits and pieces from Drake and Travis Scott and weave a sound of her own.
Melodik Tribe – Song 2 ft. Jasper Jones
[soundcloud url=”https://api.soundcloud.com/tracks/313012641″ params=”color=ff5500&auto_play=false&hide_related=false&show_comments=true&show_user=true&show_reposts=false” width=”100%” height=”166″ iframe=”true” /]Are those shopping carts i hear? Keys clinking? If you take a dive into Melodik Tribe‘s other jams, you start to find the consistency is their sheer comfort in experimentation. They take everyday sounds and create modern, funky RnB/pop music. With the assistance of Jasper Jones, the Melodik Tribe once again give the people a jam to sway and vibe to.
Smino – Wild Irish Roses
[soundcloud url=”https://api.soundcloud.com/tracks/311579752″ params=”color=ff5500&auto_play=false&hide_related=false&show_comments=true&show_user=true&show_reposts=false” width=”100%” height=”166″ iframe=”true” /]Last, but not least is Smino‘s serene new track, “Wild Irish Roses,” the intro track to his recently released album, “blkswn“. Blessed with the warm, lush production of Monte Booker, Smino comes waltzing into this track with a sultry delivery and brings you along, slow and easy. Best part of the track is the name refers to these palm-sized bottles of wine that the corner liquor stores would sell by the dozen. When the summer-time comes around, you can’t help but notice all the empties on the sidewalks. Ahhhh….summer.
