Merlot revisits 50 shades of queerness in “Bad For You” video

Merlot‘s “Bad For You” is out now on Tent Seven.

New York City soul singer Merlot has finally released the video for his debut track “Bad For You” and it doesn’t disappoint. Back in January, he was explaining to PAPER that he would “love to release innovative, high budget music videos that defy societal norms of the gender binary and sexuality”. It looks like he put his words into action.

Directed by Mexican-born filmmaking duo Santiago & Mauricio, Merlot‘s stunning visuals are displaying 50 shades of queerness and beauty. The black and white video celebrates human emotion and deconstructs the concept of canon of beauty. Besides the Vogue-inspired moves, there’s only one thing to remember here: Love is love, and we’re all beautiful. Watch it below.
