Brooklyn project Amiture has changed shape several times since Jack Whitescarver started it in 2018. After the synth heavy The Beach in 2021 and the darker, more experimental Mother Engine in 2024, the project progressively expanded into a full band with Justin Fossella, Max Beirne Shafer and Allie Wrubel. Now operating as Amiture Music, the group released their self titled album earlier this year, and they’re already back with a new EP.
The 2 Women EP arrives October 30 via Dots Per Inch and pushes further into the band’s loose, exploratory approach to rock, with unusual structures, psychological lyrics and four musicians constantly pulling against each other before locking back into place.
The lead single, “Idela”, features New York-based singer-songwriter and pianist Eliana Glass. “We composed ‘Idela’ as an instrumental song before asking Eliana if she’d like to sing on it,” Whitescarver explains. The accompanying lo-fi video, starring Hanna Gabbler and directed by Whitescarver and Glass, was shot using a GoPro. “It was cathartic to bring such a satisfying collaboration to life through image.”
