After, the duo made up of Graham Epstein and Justine Dorsey, are back with their latest single, “Outbound.” The track builds on the shimmering Y2K-inspired sound that’s become their signature, with Dorsey’s soaring vocals gliding over Epstein’s atmospheric production. The track is released via Mom+Pop, who also signed the excellent Magdalena Bay last year.

The band’s origin story feels almost destined: both Epstein and Dorsey were born on the exact same day in 1995, first met on a dating app, and eventually turned their connection into a full-fledged creative partnership. What started with a simple message, “We should start a Y2K pop rock band,” has blossomed into one of the most interesting new acts in the indie-pop space. Their debut self-titled EP dropped in April, and it features “300 Dreams,” one of the best songs of the year.
Following up to the equally addictive “Deep Diving,” they have just returned with a new single, “Outbound.” Produced by Photographic Memory and Alex Craig, the single also arrives with a stylish video directed by Nathan Castiel . This is another earworm sure to please fans of 2000s MTV pop rock.
