AKUA’s “Heaven” is a celestial testimony of grief and acceptance

“Heaven” is taken from AKUA‘s self-released debut album Them Spirits, due out March 27.

Canadian-Ghanaian singer-songwriter and producer AKUA has just detailed the release of her debut album Them Spirits. This cathartic and personal project, which was crafted after she lost her father to cancer, is decribed as an encounter with staggering loss and explores the different stages of grief and mourning as well as her spiritual renewal.

Following up on the first single “Offering”, AKUA has now shared “Heaven”, a soulful song that tackles the conflicting feelings of denial and acceptance. With its dreamy and aerial arrangements, the celestial track remarkably captures this foggy state of transition while procuring a sense of serenity and maturity. Listen below.
