Copenhagen based artist Albert Hertz may have only started releasing music under his given name in February, but his story already stretches much further back. A songwriter, producer, and longtime presence in the CPH scene, Hertz has spent years shaping his voice through solo projects, bands, and collective experiments, including Wheelie Xtender Group, a project connected to artists such as ML Buch, Smerz, Clarissa Connelly, Molina, and Tettix Hexer. He has also worked across disciplines with multimedia artists Thjerza Balaj and Kåre Frang, while bringing his music to stages such as SPOT and Roskilde.
Out today, “The Party” follows previous single “Actor” and finds Albert Hertz turning a house party into a whole universe of rooms, hallways, bathrooms, dancefloors, and sudden emotional shocks. Built around a swinging backbeat, restless guitars, and a bright sense of motion, the track feels playful on the surface, but there is something more haunted underneath, as the memory of one encounter starts to loop into obsession. In the lyrics, Hertz sings, “I wanna spin and rewind it”, and that feeling sits right at the heart of the song: the wish to replay a night that briefly made everything feel possible, even as it slips further out of reach.
