ooi‘s self-released new track “kikayon” is out now.
ooi are living proof that the internet has changed the way we make music. After an online encounter back in 2016, Tokyo-based US expat Nicolai Zettl (vocals) decided to team up with German drummer Flo König and Dodo Dal Bosco (keys) from Luca, Italy without never having met in person. Since then, the trio is crafting avant-pop tracks about “real life” experiences by skyping on a daily basis. Their new creation, the oceanic “Kikayon”, sounds a bit darker than some of their previous tracks. It’s an intriguing offering which unfolds tempestuous, sinusoidal waves of eerie synths and tales-like lyrics. Tune in below.
