Contrary to belief, sometimes music bloggers do, in fact, read other music blogs besides the ones they write for. I was browsing Semplesize the other night and found this girl called BATTS and like… whoa! She might just be my favorite discovery from this month. Indie pop moodiness meets evocative vocals, bam, a great artist to listen to when you’re feeling contemplative.
The most recent track on her SoundCloud is a remix of her song “Lie To Me” from Latch Morrison. This remix definitely isn’t going to be for everyone; the BPM is a bit too slow even for a slow dance, but to me, it’s irresistible for the way that it blends BATTS‘ heart-wrenching vocals with the more angsty guitar of the remix. Remixes are a great way, sometimes, to hear a song from a different perspective, and Latch Morrison has turned the original “Lie To Me” with its cool synths and percussions into a moodier, slower, song. It gives the listener more time to savor the vocals. Give Lach Morrison‘s remix of “Lie To Me” a spin below and check out the original song as well![soundcloud url=”https://api.soundcloud.com/tracks/295404092″ params=”color=ff5500&auto_play=false&hide_related=false&show_comments=true&show_user=true&show_reposts=false” width=”100%” height=”166″ iframe=”true” /]
