Every Wednesday on HighClouds, from now until death do us part, we publish the picky playlists of our Brussels’ friend and collaborator Deer Du Bois. He has been demonstrating a real talent in highlighting emerging and talented acts and imposes himself as a real talent-spotter. Every week, his playlist is a sharp and buzzing selection of new discoveries in indie and pop music. And lucky you: we are now your fresh and fun place to weekly seat and savor his delightful “indie.tronic.dream.pop.chill.wave” cocktail. So, do you mind a cup?
This week we start off with a bitter-sweet tribute to our purple highness Prince with this very touching remake of “I Would Die for You” by Swedish songstress El Perro Del Mar. We also got the new this week that Sally Shapiro, one of the most happy Scandi-italo-bands of the last decade, decided to stop with this last track “If You Ever Wanna Change Your Mind”. Well I hope they do! But no sad faces, please, when you listen to Gavin Turek and her modern interpretation of 70s disco. You’ll be dancing your sorrow away on her newest single “On The Line”.
And as always some quirkiness doesn’t escape us either and this time we treat you on a semi-French cover of “Smells Like Teen Spirit” by hyper L.A. duo Freedom Fry.
And to end in beauty and electrically charged, we serve you the dazzling collaboration between Danny L Harle and mermaid-angel Caroline Polachek and the addictive “Ashes of Love“.
