Ela Minus is back! The Colombian multi-talented artist has revealed that her highly anticipated second album, DIA, is on the way. Alongside this announcement, she shared the album’s lead single and video, “Broken.” The new album follows her critically acclaimed 2020 debut, acts of rebellion.
DIA is described as an album about growth and transformation. It reflects a journey of self-discovery taken at a careful, thoughtful pace. The songs explore the question of what comes next—after we’ve been broken, but before we’re broken for good.
For the project, Minus‘ songwriting has also evolved. After three years of carrying fragments of songs across Colombia, Mexico, and in rented apartments and hotel rooms across North America and Europe, she thought the record was complete. But something was missing with the lyrics: telling more about herself. This step towards introspection can be heard in “Broken,” as she sings: “Mother, I’ve been a fool, I looked then in / Even when you said, do not listen / Went to hell and back, left all the way / Now I’m broken.”
Ela Minus also co-directed the video with Losmose and announced some tour dates.
