ESCHES‘ debut EP Sierra is out now on Laguna Ltd.
Vienna-based singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Robert Summerfield has just shared his debut EP as ESCHES. With its minimalist and left-field R&B arrangements, the 5-track project somehow recalls How To Dress Well to mind. About the project, the German-born artist detailed:
The SIERRA EP is ESCHES’ first body of work, contemplating on themes like loss and isolation, but also hope and reciprocal warmth. Five tracks describe how painful revelations can guide, sometimes even re-arrange exhausted realities. The soft-sung notions are complemented by a minimalistic, instrumental mix, forming a moody RnB. It’s a sound that pulls you in, modestly. ESCHES’ songs strive to deliver an honest backdrop to what it means to be in pain, to be human, to be somewhat misplaced, but also optimistic, and thankful.
Giving its name to the EP, the song “Sierra” is an ethereal and mellow offering driven by airy brass and Summerfield‘s emotive falsetto. Watch the Marc Jarabe-directed visuals below.
