Tel Aviv’s quintet Folly Tree recently released their debut album “Consolidate”. Taken from this LP, here is the video for the single ‘Consolidate’ that emphasizes the cinematic style of the pop-folk band while underlining the importance of fighting for your own space.
“Consolidate”, which is taken from their 9-track debut, is an aerial and progressive piece of folk-pop that lets some room to dreams and imagination. Folly Tree are totally aware of the cinematography that is conveyed by their music throughout the whole album. That is why it was important for them to release a video for this track.
As the singer repeats in the song, “I like the space to be left empty”. The message is clear: as a person, it is important to keep a zone for yourself even if sometimes, it can mean that you have to fight for it. The choreography of the video, that is mainly based on contemporary dance, seems to represent those internal and external battles. As the lead singer is a woman, we also guess that this fight is particularly important for them.
The video, which was shot in the industrial part of a city called Bat-Yam, can also take a whole new dimension when you know the tense geopolitical situation between Israel and Palestine.
