“En Sommeil” is taken from Jaune‘s upcoming EP La Promesse due out January 18.
After an album released two years ago via the exciting underground pop label La Souterraine, the drummer Jean Thévenin, who has already played for the likes of Petit Fantôme, Melody’s Echo Chamber and Frànçois & The Atlas Mountains, is ready to unveil a 5-track new EP under his moniker Jaune. This new project combines haunting indie pop melodies, synth crackling and personal stories as the artist draws inspiration from Buenos Aires or the disappearance of a friend.
On the first single “En Sommeil”, Jaune turns his father’s Alzheimer disease into an elegant chorus with an absorbing crescendo and glimmers of hope. A touching song that takes enough distance to cause a smile instead of tears. The nocturnal tale also comes with an Adèle Beaulieu-directed video which features Belgian singer-songwriter David Nzeyimana as well as Leila Niederberger. Watch below.
