Maria Somerville‘s debut album All My People is out March 1.
Following up on the excellent “This Way” and “All My People” (that we featured as one of our favourite tracks of 2019 so far), Irish producer and musician Maria Somerville unveils today a new single from her upcoming debut album. Somewhere between ambient, drone and lo-fi folk music, “Brighter Days” is what we call a ghostly ballad. According to the artist, the song “pines for longer evenings, brighter mornings. Beckoning summer, Brighter Days also signifies friends going away and a vivid sense of place.” It also comes with a Frank Sweeney-directed VHS-like video which definitely fits the nostalgia and DIY aesthetic of the track.
